EDC and PASS (Partner Alliance for Safer Schools) Partnership

The need for better safety in schools is more important than ever before in our society. Highly publicized, violent events in our schools have led to reassessments of how we manage security risks in the K-12 environment.

School safety planning and initiatives protect students from all manner of violence, creating safe, secure spaces to make them better able to grow, learn and find success in their academic journeys.

For its decades-long efforts in outfitting local schools across the state of Minnesota with the communications systems they need to create and cultivate safe learning environments, Electronic Design Company (EDC) recently partnered with PASS — the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools — to continue promoting safer schools through technology implementation and integration.

All About PASS

A nonprofit organization, PASS supports efforts by communities throughout the United States to enable and sustain an effective level of safety appropriate to each district and K-12 facility.

PASS provides school administrators, school boards and public safety and security professionals with information, tools and insights needed to implement a layered and tiered approach to securing and enhancing the safety of school environments based on local needs, nationwide best practices and effective utilization of available resources..

EDC: A PASS Partner

PASS relies on a coalition of organizational partners to support use of their tools and    resources — and to communicate their vision and mission. PASS’s community of school safety advocates, aka PASS Partners, works daily to meet the needs of schools around the country and are key partners in this effort.

By becoming a PASS Partner, we have been acknowledged for the various communication best practice components we have worked to install and implement in schools across the state, including:

  • Public Address System
  • Two-way Intercom System With Call Buttons
  • Duress Button System — Office and Classroom
  • In-Building Emergency Communication System
  • Distributed Antenna System (DAS)
  • Mass Notification Tied to District-Wide System
  • Building-Wide Communication via Outside Calls

Becoming a PASS Partner dovetails seamlessly with our work providing safety solutions to learning institutions.

“As a leader in critical communication systems for schools, Electronic Design Company (EDC) is proud to become a partner with PASS and continue to lead the way for safer schools,” the company said in a statement. “Since 1955, EDC has designed, installed and maintained school-wide communication systems. We are now seeing the transition towards comprehensive and strategically planned District-Wide Mass Notification systems. We continue to be focused on providing best-in class solutions and support for schools.”
