Initial Engagement

Electronic Design Company (EDC) is focused on the design, integration and maintenance of Critical Audio and Visual Systems. An airport’s public address system is critical to an airport’s operation. A medium-sized airport will make hundreds or announcements a day and most are critical to their operation and the safety of their travelers. Because of this we, are regularly in contact with airports throughout the Upper Midwest.

We were in contact with Eppley Airfield in early 2023, at which point we knew they had an airport expansion plan in place. Based on their construction process we understood the public address system would be upgraded and expanded.

Through our conversation with the construction management team, we identified the Public Address along with all other low voltage systems would be acquired through a Master System Integrator. We worked through a similar acquisition process with the Kansas City Airport project.

Value Proposition

Through 2023 we provided multiple proposals on a variety of system configurations. We demonstrated value by providing voluntary options, which would lower the cost of ownership and increase functionality. We also demonstrated flexibility by accepting additional scopes of work such as area of rescue systems, clocks and large format LED displays.

Finalizing our Scope of Work and Our Contract

Through the early part of 2024 we worked closely with the Master System Integrator on our scope of work, configuration changes which would add value and our contract terms and conditions. This included performance bonding, scheduling and options for value engineering. Through this process we negotiated and finalized our agreement. The agreement was signed off on in late March of 2024.
