Sales Engineer/Estimator
Job Description
Responsible for carrying out all Company goals and objectives, established by the President or Engineering Department Manager, as it relates to this position. The Sales Engineer/Estimator is responsible for the development of project pricing by estimating both bid specification and design build projects. Through collaboration with other systems designers, suggest technical alternatives, develop cost estimates, and manage all work to meet project deadlines. With ongoing education, the designer will maintain comprehensive knowledge of audiovisual, paging, and other critical communication systems for development of technical solutions and work scope narratives that meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities
- At the direction of the President, Sales and Engineering Manager provide accurate and timely estimating support
- At the direction of the President, Sales and Engineering Manager provide accurate and timely project research
- At the direction of the President, Sales and Engineering Manager provide accurate and timely product or application research
- Write professional work scopes or work scope refinements based on information from sales and sales engineering
- Acquire and maintain continuing knowledge of all product lines and services offered.
- Research and obtain information on position-specific training opportunities.
- Coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure proper scheduling of systems design resources.
- Evaluate and propose products for suitability and reliability for use on projects.
- Develop and grow the ability to design and engineer complete system(s).
- Develop and grow the ability to provide high quality error free project submittal and as-built documentation.
- Other duties as required or assigned by Company management.
Qualifications
- Hold a current CTS certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized.
- Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers including such programs as Acrobat Pro, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date.
- Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.
- Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business and technical documentation.
- Valid and current driver’s license.
Additional Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of communications systems
- Proven experience navigating business growth and development
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and similar computer applications
- Valid and current driver’s license
Physical, Mental & Environmental Requirements
- Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use their hands and fingers.
- Some light lifting of objects is required.
- Reaching, grasping and carrying activities are also required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
